She’s Letting Herself Go

Dawn creeps out of her cage of darkness

Wrapped in a blanket of misty sorrow.

She’s letting herself go.

She’s singing a song, quiet and low.

But nobody notices, no one knows

She slinks silently on the tip of her toes.

Whispers a melody, haunting yet sweet.

Softly, swiftly, she’s letting herself go.

Unravels her fears, unleashes tears-

She’s letting herself go and oh!

It seems she’s tripped on the words…

Stutters and slides, tries not to be heard.

Caught, and she turns

Violent, but she stops a blow.

She takes a breath before the calm.

She’s letting herself go.
