I have saved the best for last! I went from song lyrics, to movies, and now of course, to my favorite writers (although I definitely have more than 3). Also, if you know what the featured image is…props to you!
I want to thank samanthamurdochblog again for nominating me for this challenge. Please do check out her blog as well!
Once again, the rules are post 3 quotes for 3 consecutive days and nominate 3 new people each day.
Check out Day 1 and Day 2 if you haven’t already!
“We all die. The goal isn’t to live forever, the goal is to create something that will.”
-Chuck Palahniuk, Diary
Palahniuk is one of my all-time favorite writers. I own all of his books and have read them all, most multiple times. I love that he is fearless in choosing his topics, especially the topics people shy away from. I love his repetitive style and the way he weaves twists into his work. I think his work is very much inspired by Vonnegut, who is another favorite of mine. The quote resonates with me and I think with a lot of people because we don’t know what happens when we die, but it’s hard to accept that we’ll just cease existing. We each have a chance to leave a legacy behind, whether it is just family, or an artistic masterpiece. I cannot lie, it would be amazing to become a writer who has the ability to touch the minds of generations to come.
“Holding anger is a poison…It eats you from inside…We think that by hating someone we hurt them…But hatred is a curved blade…and the harm we do to others…we also do to ourselves.”
Mitch Albom, The Five People You Meet in Heaven
I read a lot of darker literature. I don’t mind it, it fascinates me. But Mitch Albom I LOVE and he is the exact opposite. His books always provide time for introspection and revelation. I had a lot of experience with anger in my youth and honestly it did more harm to me than anybody else. It felt so good when I finally learned to release it. Don’t hold on to hate.
“There is love enough in this world for everybody, if people will just look.”
-Kurt Vonnegut, Cat’s Cradle
As I said above, Vonnegut is a favorite of mine. When I read his books I get the feeling we have very similar thoughts. He talks a lot about getting rid of loneliness. I know depression comes in all forms, but loneliness has always been my source of anxiety, my target if you will. Cat’s Cradle is a fascinating book about the man who created the atomic bomb. Vonnegut paints the picture that this man was no crueler than anyone else, just simply invested in his craft-science-and wanting to test its true potential. I think this quote fits perfectly with the Albom quote as well as the current atmosphere of the world. Let’s all look a little harder for love, and make it easier for others to find.
Since I am all about themes, my nominations will be people from WordPress who have posted stories on their blogs that I have loved reading and gotten “hooked” if you will. I hope you check out their work as well! I will send the link right to the stories if you’re interested in reading them!
The Stacked Deck by Lori Carlson@A Whispered Wind
Thanks for some great quotes, and a reminder for me to go back and re-read Vonnegut. It’s been a LONG time!!

Congratulations, day 3 done! Great quotes as well. I like Mitch Albom’s books, probably “The Timekeeper” best. Will have to check out Kurt Vonnegut. No idea about the symbol…a sad sun? A squashed spider? A troll sneeze? Thank you for accepting the challenge, thoroughly enjoyed the posts x

I love The Timekeeper! I’m glad you liked the quotes. As for the picture….well it’s sort of this silly thing Vonnegut does…and I’m not at liberty to spoil the surprise 😂 let’s just say he has a sense of humor!

I thought you meant the blogging stories lol! The books are obviously long, they’re books! If you like Palahniuk, and I mean brace yourself because he has no boundaries, I suggest reading Invisible Monsters. That one has the best twists!

Glad to hear I inspired you to read again! Sorry to hear about your job…😕 I left my job teaching because I’m moving to California, but luckily I still get paid through the summer. Still, this is the first time I haven’t had a job in 8 years (since I was 16) and I have no idea what I’m going to do in California! Oh well, I guess that’s what makes it exciting and terrifying all at the same time.

Valencia which I guess is a part of Santa Clarita (I’m not great with CA geography yet). I just know it’s near Los Angeles.

I used to read all of the Palahniuk books – I stopped a few years ago. I kind of felt like it was getting to be the same thing over and over. Maybe I should pick up some of his newer stuff.

You are right about that, but his new series (Damned and Doomed) are refreshingly different. I did not like Tell All and felt it was extremely predictable. Same with Snuff, I guessed the ending. Beautiful You is alright, it’s like a satire of 50 Shades of Grey and my boyfriend found it hilarious and I was just kind of in the middle. But definitely read Damned and if you like it, Doomed is the second book and a third book is on the way.

I think Snuff was the last one I read. I should have some extra reading time in the next couple weeks, so I may pick up Damned. If nothing else, I haven’t read anything of his in a while, so perhaps it will not seem like I have read anything like it recently.

Honestly I think it’s pretty different in terms of story-wise. I really liked it, I hope you enjoy it too!
